Exciting news: Thomas has been commissioned to write original arrangments of famous jazz standards for Symphonic Orchestra + Jazz Band. He was also the pianist for those performances that took place in Bari/Italy in July 2008. The concerts were a great success (please check back soon for reviews, audio and video from the concerts).

The Thomas Gunther Trio is best known for its hard-driving swing performances. Deeply rooted in the tradition of swinging jazz, the band thrills its audiences with sophisticated arrangements of unforgettable songs performed with great dynamic and feel.
Dependent on the occasion, the trio will expand its repertory to include other styles like latin, fusion, ballads, modern jazz, originals, etc. The Thomas Gunther Trio performs jazz concerts, club gigs, as well as for dance/ private events. Click here to see the repertory list.
Bassist Daniel Anderson has been with the trio for many years. He is a brilliant performer who swings hard. He performed with Ray Charles and many other famous musicians throughout his carrier. Daniel is also an outstanding tuba player (click here for more info).
Two times Grammy award winning Drummer Perry Wilson, whose uncle was the original drummer with Earth, Wind & Fire, performed and recorded with some of the greatest in jazz like Sonny Rollins (see bio for more info). Perry is truly an amazing performer who knows how to make the trio sound at its best (click here for more info).
With Daniel Anderson (bass) and Perry Willson (drums) Thomas found two brilliant performers who are not only masters of their instruments, but more importantly understand jazz from it's original sense; like the masters say: "It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing" (Duke).
Occationally the trio appears with a vocalist and/or one or more instrumentalists (see special guest artists).

The band is well established in the Chicago Swing and Lindy Hop dance scene, for which it has headlined many huge dance events like the Chicago Summer Dance Open Air 2005/2007 and the Chicago Swing Exchange 2002/2004/2007.
